Matt Pitkin Joins Manchester Basketball

Joining the coaching staff on the men’s side is the highly rated Matt Pitkin as Associate Head Coach.

Pitkin, who assisted London Lions’ women’s side to a historic European success last term, as well as the unbeaten domestic treble boasts 5 National titles leading Loughborough University’s women’s side. Matt also spent a season alongside Rob Paternostro in the BBL at Leicester Riders and has national team experience being Head Coach for U16 and U15 , Euro League academy graduate.

“It is my complete honour to be a part of this Manchester Basketball project, especially in a city with such a rich history in our sport. Manchester, and our fans, deserve to be part of a successful professional team and we will make every effort to reach that point as quickly as possible,” reflected Matt.

“I’m looking forward to all of the challenges and successes which lie ahead throughout this season!”

Ben Pierson of the Sherwood Family Investment Office commented:

“In Matt we have one of the best young coaches in the country. He brings with him a record of success and experience that have already proven invaluable to the organisation.”

“Matt’s extraordinary level of detail and preparation is well known throughout the leagues.  His contribution to our signings thus far has been nothing short of impressive.”

“There is so much talent in Britain at the playing, and coaching level.  We’re proud to be a club that has given relatively young British coaches a platform to further their careers here.”
