Manchester Basketball are thrilled to have landed the signing of American Makai Ashton-Langford.
Makai, who spent last season with Kk Vrijednosnice Osijekwho in Croatia, was a top target for Coach Jones whose team face Sheffield Sharks away this Sunday.
“Basketball has brought me places I never dreamed of as a kid. This will be my first time in England and I couldn’t be more excited,” reflected Makai.
“I pride myself on bringing positive energy in the locker room and being the most fierce competitor in between the lines!”
“Off the court I hope to inspire the next generation to believe in themselves and their abilities because everybody is special in their own way! All I want to do is win and I will do everything within my control to make that happen. Also hope I’m able to catch a soccer game or two.”
After a spell at Providence, the 6’2” guard graduated from NCAA D1 powerhouse Boston College averaging 11.7 points per game over three seasons.
“We’re delighted to get the deal over the line,” commented Coach Callum. “We’ve been chasing Makai for a little while now and we’ve had to stay patient.”
“Point guard is a key position in the team and one we wanted to take our time with, to get the right player. We believe we have that now with Makai.”
“We like what we have seen so far. He can really play and we’re excited to get him into our rotation.”
Ashton-Langford is due to make his home debut for Manchester when they face Sheffield Sharks at 2pm on Fright Night - tickets are available here.
