Manchester Basketball are thrilled to announce the appointment of Herman Mandole as our new men’s head coach.
Mandole, an experienced Argentine coach, brings a wealth of knowledge from top-level basketball across the globe. Most recently he served as head coach of Serie A side Varese in Italy. His coaching career also includes stints as an assistant coach with Club Atlético San Lorenzo and Club Atlético Olímpico in Argentina.
On the international stage, Mandole has held both head coach and assistant coach roles with the Argentinian men’s national team, including as head coach of the senior squad. He has also been a head coach and an assistant coach for the senior level Japanese men’s national team.
Franchise owner Ben Pierson expressed his excitement about the appointment:
“We are delighted to bring in a coach of Herman’s calibre. His extensive experience coaching internationally, including with Argentina and Japan, makes him a fantastic fit for Manchester Basketball. We believe that Herman, alongside Matt and Juan, will help us build toward our goal of competing in Europe."
"With 15 games remaining in the league before the Playoffs, Manchester Basketball remains focused on competing for trophies, and the club is confident that Mandole’s leadership will drive the team forward.”
Mandole shared his enthusiasm about joining the club:
"I am very happy to be in Manchester and to help a new franchise like this one grow. There is a lot of work ahead, but this season is far from over. We will focus on improving our defense, defensive rebounding, and playing a dynamic offensive game. It will be hard work, but I believe in this group of players.”
The coaching team will also see Matt Pitkin remain on staff, joined by new assistant coach Juan Manuel Nardini. Nardini, who has both head coaching and assistant coaching experience across South America, most recently worked alongside Mandole at Varese.
Mandole will take charge for the first time tonight as Manchester Basketball faces the London Lions.
Please join us in supporting Herman and the team in his first home game, this Sunday March 2nd at 3pm vs rivals Newcastle - tickets are available here!
