Game Report: Manchester 86-79 Newcastle Eagles

Manchester win as head coach Herman Mandole records his first win at the franchise.

Makai Ashton-Langford was the player of the game as he recorded 21 points and 9 assists in a performance full of skilled layups and marksmanship from beyond the arch.

DJ Mitchell also impressed as he recorded 17 points 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

For Newcastle Eagles De’Sean Allen-Eikens impressed as he recorded 15 points and 5 rebounds.

Manchester started the game red hot and went on a 10-0 run. Kyle Carey impressed in this quarter as he scored 6 points with back to back three-pointers. Manchester ended the quarter with a lead of 22-17.

Manchester kept the momentum in the second quarter. They played high intensity defence and looked to force Newcastle Eagles into turnovers. Manchester went into halftime with a lead, with the scores at 41-37.

Manchester were able to extend their lead int he third quarter. DJ Mitchell impressed in this quarter as he was able to score seven points and create plays for his teammates with his playmaking ability. Manchester went into the final quarter leading 66-55.

Manchester were able to stop Newcastle Eagles from making a comeback in the final quarter of the game. Makai Ashton-Langford starred in the quarter as he recorded nine points in it. The game ended with the score at 86-79 in Manchester’s favour.

Manchester will look to build upon this win on Tuesday March 11 as they face Leicester Riders at the National Basketball Performance Centre.
