After a dominant display Manchester come out as 84-58 victors against Essex Rebels.
Manchester led the game from the start after an impressive defensive performance in the second half saw them come out as the dominant victors.
For Manchester Danni Williams dominated scoring 22 points 4 rebounds and making four three-pointers. Davida Dale also impressed recording 14 points 5 rebounds 6 assists alongside 3 steals.
Essex Rebels stayed with Manchester in the first half, for Rebels it was Taylor O’Brien who impressed, scoring 24 points and 5 rebounds.
It was an even first quarter as neither team were able to go on a run. Bride Kennedy-Hopoate started the quarter by draining a three-pointer. Danni Williams also made a three-pointer in this quarter as she recorded 5 points. Manchester took a 25-20 lead as the quarter finished.
Maura Fitzpatrick started the quarter quickly for Manchester making a three-pointer. Once again neither team were able to get away completely from one another as they traded buckets. Manchester would go into halftime with a lead of 44-39.
Manchester started the second half with much higher intensity. They were able to get stops on the defensive end and they made dividends on the offensive end of the court. 8 points in the quarter from Davida Dale helped Manchester gain a substantial lead. She was accurate from beyond the arch making two three-pointers in the quarter. Manchester’s ability defensively is what allowed them to gain a 61-47 lead going into the final quarter.
After forcing the turnover Manchester started the quarter with Danni Williams making two three-pointers to help continue their momentum that they previously gained. Manchester’s work defensively continued in this quarter as they held Essex Rebels to just 11 points in the quarter. Steals from both Maura Fitzpatrick and Davida Dale are evidence to this defensive work. Manchester ended the game 84-58 victors after a dominant second half performance.
Head Coach Krumesh Patel will be impressed with the work of his team defensively in the second half as they limited Essex Rebels’ shooting ability. They rebounded ball well and were efficient offensively all game as they executed their pre-planned and worked on plays to get past the Essex defence. They will want to continue this momentum into the season but most importantly their next game.
