Manchester fall short against Sheffield Hatters at home.
Danni Williams impressed for Manchester as she had a double-double. She recorded 18 points 12 rebounds and 5 steals.
Tyia Singleton starred for Sheffield Hatters as they recorded 23 points 8 rebounds and 2 assists.
Manchester had the better of the momentum in the first quarter of the game. They managed to gain a six point lead as they lead 19-13. Manchester’s rebounding was particularly impressive as they looked to gain as many possessions as possible to score second chance points.
Manchester maintained their six point lead in the second quarter as the score sat at 35-29 in Manchester’s favour. Manchester worked hard defensively as they looked to force Sheffield Hatters to turnover the ball. Danni Williams was at the heart of this throughout the game as she recorded five steals. The teams headed into halftime with the game in the balance.
In the third quarter Sheffield Hatters we’re able to get back some momentum in the game as they reduced Manchester’s lead to one point. Manchester battled in the third quarter as they did everything they could to keep their lead and they headed into the final quarter leading 46-45.
Despite Manchester’s best efforts Sheffield Hatters gained unsurmountable momentum in the game. Manchester were unable to make their shots despite good creativity on the court. Sheffield ended the game as 72-57 victors.
Manchester will look to fight back on Saturday March 8 as they face Nottingham Wildcats at the National Basketball Performance Centre.
