Assistant Coach

Manchester Basketball is an established professional basketball club in the UK with a team playing in the Super League Basketball.  

We are looking for an Assistant Coach (SLB) to further support our Basketball team and build on our on-court success. The role is responsible for supporting the head coach in training and guiding players, as well as helping with the management of the basketball team.

Contractual Status: Full-time

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist in Coaching: Help with planning and implementing training sessions, drills, and game strategies. Assist in teaching individual skills and team tactics.

2. Player Development: Focus on improving players' technical skills, conditioning, and overall game performance.

3. Game Preparation: Analyse opponents, assist with creating game strategies, and provide input on lineups. Attend practices and games, offering feedback and adjustments during competition.

4. Assist with Team Management: Work closely with the head coach to ensure smooth operations, including organising practices, handling team logistics, and maintaining equipment.

5. Motivation and Support: Act as a mentor, motivating players and helping them stay disciplined and focused on team goals, both on and off the court.

6. Administrative Duties: Assist with scheduling, record-keeping (e.g., player stats), recruiting, and other tasks that may be delegated by the head coach.

7. Collaborate with Coaching Staff: Work closely with other coaches to ensure alignment in training techniques and strategies.

Skills and Qualifications

- Experience: Previous experience in basketball, either as a player or a coach, is preferred.

- Knowledge: Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, team strategies, and player development.

- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with players, staff, and possibly media.

- Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and maintain a positive environment for player growth.
